Media are invited to apply online for media accreditation for Nitro Athletics Melbourne.

The media accreditation form should be completed by no later than Tuesday 31 January and must be submitted with a letter of authorisation from the organisation that you will be representing, This applies to freelance journalists also.

Submission of a media accreditation application does not guarantee that accreditation will be granted.

These Media Terms & Conditions relate to the Nitro Athletics Melbourne events at Lakeside Stadium on 4, 9, 11 February, 2017.

Athletics Australia (AA) is the event organiser and promoter.

Accreditation will be subject to the applicant complying with the following Terms & Conditions. The applicant confirms that he is making this application for accreditation with the full knowledge and consent of his employer. The applicant further confirms that he is authorised to enter into this legally binding agreement for himself and on behalf of his employer and that his employer will be bound by these Terms & Conditions. Where the applicant is a freelancer he is classed as the employer. Failure to abide by these Terms & Conditions may result in the applicant or the employer’s accreditation being revoked, prosecution for criminal trespass and/or accreditation being denied in the future.

Applications for media accreditation for this tournament must be made through the Nitro Athletics Melbourne online application web page insert link.



– The applicant will abide by and comply with any terms of entry into the venue as prescribed from time to time by Nitro Athletics Melbourne or Lakeside Stadium, to the extent those terms of entry do not directly and materially conflict with the rights attaching to the accreditation.

– The applicant will abide by all reasonable directions of Nitro Athletics Melbourne media staff whilst at the venue.

– The applicant will at all times whilst in the grounds:-

– Wear such identifying pass and/or bib as may be provided by Nitro Athletics Melbourne.

– Ensure such pass and/or bib is visible at all times; and

– Not tamper with any of such items or do anything to obscure any part of them.

– The applicant must only capture and use information, audio-visual material and images from the Nitro Athletics Melbourne events for genuine news reporting purposes and must not itself commercialise or facilitate a third party commercialising such material.



The applicant and the employer (if any) assume all risk incident to attendance at the events, agree they are not acting on behalf of the Nitro Athletics Melbourne, are not employees or agents of Nitro Athletics Melbourne and agree to release the Nitro Athletics Melbourne, Lakeside Stadium and AA, from and against any and all liability, loss, damage, expense and/or injury arising from the issuance, use or revocation of the accreditation or in conjunction with applicant’s presence at the events. The applicant and the employer (if any) jointly and severally hereby indemnify and hold harmless Nitro Athletics Melbourne, Lakeside Stadium and AA, and their respective employees, representatives, officers and agents against any and all liability, loss (including consequential loss), damage or expense resulting from a breach of these Terms and Conditions, the issue or revocation of accreditation, the applicant’s presence at the event and the applicant’s use of any event transportation, services or hotels.



The applicant and the employer (if any) acknowledge that any accreditation granted in respect of the applicant is personal to the applicant and may not be transferred or assigned to any other person.



Nitro Athletics Melbourne may grant or reject the request for accreditation in its absolute discretion and after imposing such further terms and conditions as it sees fit. Once granted, Nitro Athletics Melbourne may revoke accreditation at any time in its absolute discretion without being liable to compensate the applicant, the employer or any other person.

Nitro Athletics Melbourne or its representatives may ask an accredited member of the media to substantiate the work being undertaken at any event by requesting evidence of their work. If requested, this evidence must be provided as soon as is practicable and no later than 24 hours after the initial request. Should this material not be provided, Nitro Athletics Melbourne may withdraw this accreditation.



Nitro Athletics Melbourne will be broadcast exclusively on Channel 7 who hold the Australian domestic rights across free-to-air, subscription and digital platforms. No other media outlets may publish or distribute moving images from Nitro Athletics Melbourne without the express written permission from the event organisers.

For the avoidance of doubt, this includes websites, other news organisations, individual journalists and photographers publishing any moving images from the event on any platform including digital and social (e.g. Facebook live). Doing so will result in immediate withdrawal of accreditation and removal from the venue.

Australian domestic non-rights holders have access to the venue only for journalists and reporters but not camera operators.

Access to Lakeside Stadium for open training sessions and media calls, and access to the Nitro Athletics Melbourne Gala dinner red carpet do not fall within this clause where non-rights holder will have access.

International rights holders also apply.



The applicant agrees to conduct himself in a way that will not bring this event into ridicule or disrepute and will behave at all times in a manner to be expected of a professional in his field and in accordance with any applicable requirements of the organisers. The applicant agrees not to interfere with other media, spectators, athletes or teams and agrees to refrain from any behaviour that is offensive, aggressive or discourteous. Nitro Athletics Melbourne reserves the right to withdraw accreditation (effectively immediately) if it considers that the applicant has breached any of these requirements.



By accepting Nitro Athletics Melbourne accreditation, the applicant acknowledges that Nitro Athletics through Athletics Australia has policies and procedures in place to maintain the integrity of athletics competitions held under the auspices of Nitro Athletics (Athletics Competitions), including protection from conduct of a corrupt nature in relation to Athletics Competitions. Accordingly the applicant for accreditation agrees that any information the applicant receives on the basis of this media accreditation shall be for the sole purpose of media reporting. The information obtained through accredited media status shall not be used or disclosed by the applicant for the purposes of obtaining financial gain, directly or indirectly, from gambling, betting, gaming or any other form of financial speculation.



Nitro Athletics Melbourne may use the applicant’s personal information for the purpose of: assessing a request for accreditation, administration and possibly vetting/security checking. Nitro Athletics Melbourne may disclose the applicant’s information to its service providers and agents for these purposes.

These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with Australian law. Nitro Athletics Melbourne reserves the right (without prejudice to any other right or remedy it may have) to withdraw accreditation at any time if the applicant breaches any of these Terms and Conditions.
